December 10th is the day appointed for the Feast of the Translation of the Holy House of Loreto, the House
“translated from Palestine by the ministry of angels—in which was born the Blessed Virgin Mary, and in which the Word was made flesh.” (Benedict XV, 1916) The Collect prayer for this Mass offers us a solid theological thought for Advent reflection:
O God, Who in Thy mercy didst hallow the house of the Blessed Virgin Mary by the mystery of the Word made flesh, and didst wonderfully place it in the midst of Christendom: grant that we may shun the dwellings of sinners, and become worthy to dwell in Thy holy house. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
Mary Immaculate of Lourdes is Newton and Needham Massachusetts' oldest Roman Catholic Parish. Founded as Saint Mary Parish in 1870, it was renamed "Mary Immaculate of Lourdes" when the new Church was dedicated on Thanksgiving Day, 1910. In addition to being a regular territorial parish of the Archdiocese of Boston it is also a "Mission Parish" since 2007 with a special apostolate for the Traditional Latin Mass (1962 Missal).
